Fujara – the musical instrument and its music

Fujara is a beautiful musical instrument of folk culture, also referred to as “the queen among folk instruments”. Fujara can be found only in Slovakia, particularly in its central part, and is one of our national symbols since the 18th century.

Fujara is a long wooden pipe with three tactual holes. It is decorated by various ornaments. The creation of such an instrument takes several years. Each instrument is unique and reflects the personality of its “creator” as well as the personality of the person, who plays it.
